American retailer Meijer has broken ground on a $100m dairy production plant in Tipp City, Miami County, Ohio, a move which will create 100 new jobs.
Spread across an area of 173,000ft2, the new plant will include 105,000ft2 dairy facility and a 68,000ft2 refrigerated warehouse space.
The new facility, which marks the retailer's first dairy production site in Ohio, will manufacture a variety of dairy products such as milk, cottage cheese and yogurt, and will have the capacity to produce 30 million gallons of products.
These products will be sold in 100 stores in Ohio, Indiana, Illinois and Kentucky.
Meijer co-CEO Mark Murray said that the company is very pleased to continue its investment and growth in Ohio.
"This expansion allows us to enhance our commitment to provide the freshest products for our customers, while growing our manufacturing capabilities and Meijer brand offerings," Murray added.
Construction work on the new dairy production plant is expected to be completed by the end of next year.
