Global leading TD-LTE network operator China Mobile Ltd. (SEHK: 0941 and NYSE: CHL) declared a plan to build 350,000 base stations in dozens of Chinese cities by the end of 2014 to accelerate 4G application, focusing on Internet of Things projects.
TD-LTE is one of the international standards for mobile communication formulated under the leadership of China, as evolution technology for TD-SCDMA, characterized with super high transmission speed representing 1000% to 2000% of that for 3G networks, with maximum download speed reaching 80M. In 2010, the State Council listed TD-LTE as one of the strategic burgeoning industries. 4G experiments have been initiated in 15 Chinese cities.
