Despite Christmas holidays fully underway, the Indian market still found the time to conclude a few deals at some impressive numbers
The USA owned container vessel MADURA (7,381 LDT) was concluded for a very firm USD 44S.LT LDT (the USA ownership and European country of build largely responsible for the strong price on show). Furthermore the bulker AMTRA DINA (6.244 LDT) was committed for a similarly strong USD 412/LT LDT.
Finally, Vietnamese controlled 5,215 LDT Bulker SUNRISE S9 witnessed an exceptionally strong USD 4C5/LT, especially considering me smaller LDT and poorer condition these vessels are known to arrive in.
Meanwhile, the exchange rate remains weak and steel prices volatile as ever, leaving sentiment on the ground somewhat still uncertain and on the more conservative side of cautious.
However, there are still deals to be done on the right ships at the right prices and owners should be realistic when considering levels in an already saturated market with plenty of candidates still unsold
