Taipei,Oct.2,2012--Taiwan's three major power supply makers,AcBel Polytech Inc.,Zippy Technology Corp.,and Delta Electronics Inc.,all enjoyed rising revenues in the third quarter, driven mainly by rising cloud computing opportunities in recent years.
AcBel`s combined revenues reached NT$2.18 billion(US$72.66 million)in August, which may be exceeded by revenues in September, with third-quarter revenue likely to hit a quarterly high and gross profit margin(GPM)to reach 15%.
AcBel`s third-quarter revenues mainly came from increasing demand for fuel cells, whose revenues reached about NT$300million(US$10 million)in the first half, with projected revenues in the second half to outstrip NT$1 billion(US$33.33 million).
With overwhelming orders for power supplies in the third quarter,AcBel's production capacities in Taiwan could barely keep up with only 70%to 80%of the high-gross-margin orders, hence asked its Wuhan plants to expand capacities.
One executive of Zippy Technology says, with burgeoning cloud computing opportunities recently,in addition to increasing business of servers and storage power supplies, the firm garnered orders for micro electro-mechanical systems(MEMS)from global carmakers as Mercedes Benz,BMW,and Ford, which drove up revenues in September.
Zippy Technology's combined GPM in the first half reached 30.92%,with after-tax earning per share(EPS)of NT$1(US$0.033),with GPM to remain on a plateau in the second half and second-half revenues possibly to exceed those in the first half.
Delta Electronics Inc.'s revenues in August hit a new monthly high. With iPhone 5's high-efficiency passive components orders in the third quarter, institutional investors predicted the firm's revenues to again peak in September.
