The new extruded two-pack gallon-milk-jug handle is 46.7 percent lighter, thinner and less expensive than injection-molded handles. Yet even with the weight reduction, packaging lab drop tests showed strength improvement over last-generation handle. The reduced-material handle offers shipping savings because fewer pallets are needed to deliver a high number of handles, which means the new handle should rate well on sustainable packaging scorecards.
