Today Lin Is Scheduled to Have a Lunch Meeting with Wang Yi

Taipei,Oct.17,2012(CENS)--Lin Join-sane,the newly appointed chairman of the Straits Exchange Foundation(SEF),a semi-official organization representing the government to handle cross-strait affairs,led a delegation to Beijing yesterday,kicking off his first visit to China.

Last night Lin met his counterpart Chen Yunlin,president of the Association for Relations Across the Taiwan Straits(ARATS)at the Great Hall of the People and exchanged views on cross-strait affairs.During the meeting,Lin raised five suggestions such as speeding up the progress of existing negotiations,exchanging offices for handling comprehensive affairs,expanding the scale of free independent travels by Chinese mainlanders to Taiwan,and completing the service trade talks by the end of this year to help solve loan problems for Taiwanese enterprises in China.

Besides,Lin urged quick realization of 18 cross-strait agreements inked by both sides during the past eight rounds of cross-strait talks,hoping to create win-win status and common welfare for the people of both sides.He added that SEF will further boost cross-strait exchanges and cooperation in the culture,education,sports,environmental protection and science&technology sectors.

Chen gave positive response to Lin's suggestions and viewpoints and assured that ARATS will keep smooth and friendly communications with SEF and promoting reciprocal interactions as well.

Today Lin is scheduled to have a lunch meeting with Wang Yi,director of Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council,at Diaoyutai State Guesthouse,and will visit Jia Qinglin,chairman and party secretary of the National Committee of the People's Political Consultative Conference,in the afternoon.Lin will also have a dinner party with Taiwanese enterprises operating in Beijing and Tianjin.
