Aimed at meeting shortage and facilitating passengers, the Ministry of Railways has received 132 coaches purchased from China.
Of the 202 coaches of various types purchased from China, Pakistan Railways has received 56 coaches in completely built unit condition.
An official source said that 76 coaches have been received in completely knocked down condition and are under the assembling process in Carriage Factory, Islamabad.
Official said that the remaining 70 coaches will be shipped in completely knocked down condition soon. The Executive Committee of the National Economic Council had approved the purchase and manufacturing of 202 coaches with a cost of PKR 15.889 billion.
