The Advertising on Infant Formula Is Forbidden by Hong Kong Government

The Hong Kong government has issued a ban on the advertising on infant formula associated with kids aged between 6 months to 3 years.

This move is aimed at ensuring adequate nutrition for infants and young children aged 36 months or below.

The Department of Health is looking for suggestions from the public on the draft code related to the infant formula in Hong Kong. This draft code will not allow the distribution of informational materials associated with the products in the region, reported Chinadaily.com.cn.

Mead Johnson Nutrition, a leading infant formula manufacturer, has criticized the ban on infant formula promotion and said that the promotion is not the reason for inadequate nutrition of infants and low breast-feeding rate in Hong Kong.

Mead Johnson senior vice president Matthew Chapple said ban would restrict mother's options on feeding their babies.
