China's Steel Demand May Rise by 4.1% Year on Year to Reach 666 Million Tons in 2013

According to the China Metallurgical Industrial Planning and Research Institute (CMIPRI), China's steel demand may rise by 4.1% year on year to reach 666 million tons in 2013.

In 2013, the steel demand from the Chinese construction sector is expected to hit 365 million tons, rising by 4.3%; that from the machinery is forecasted to reach 131 million tons, rising by 4.8%; that from automotive sectors would reach 44.2 million tons, up by 5.7%; that from energy sector would be at 30.5 million tons, increasing by 2.3% and that from shipbuilding sector would be at 13.5 million tons, jumping by 15.6%, all compared to that in the same period of a year ago.
