The four cornered lids & bases are manufactured from recycled PET made from a minimum of 50% post-consumer waste [old drinks bottles].
The two parts are supplied ready erected with corners ultrasonically welded. According to Coventry-based Staeger, this means that no adhesive is used in the process which eliminates the possibility of taint and odour issues. This is important for direct food applications.
The packs were litho printed in up to seven-colours with matt sealer, while the lids and bases are complimented with a set of clear die cut and creased fittings also in rPET. This new collection was launched against a very tight timescale and Waitrose sources say it is selling better than expected.
