DCF610 Is One of My Favorite 12V Tools with Exception of No Battery Fuel Status Gauge

A few years ago we were all excited over the introduction of the DeWALT 20V MAX line. With its departure from the normal pistol grip style batteries and awesome ergonomics it really turned some heads. The DCF610 is still one of my favorite 12V tools with the exception of no battery fuel status gauge. We really haven't seen much from the line since its launch except for maybe a few test and measurement tools. They did however release a 12V reciprocating saw which resembled the Porter Cable clamp saw.

Dewalt is banking on getting 20V power down to 12V size which is evident in their DCD790 compact 20V brushless drill.Cody, one of our TIA subscribers, brought to my attention the new line from MAC tools who is owned by Stanley Black and Decker.Right away I can see similarities to the DeWALT 12v line including the lack of a battery status gauge. The charger and battery packs look almost identical. The visual similarities end there and the MAC 3/8 impact BWP038-S2 seems to have a thicker grip than the more ergonomic DeWALT 12V.They also have 2 new 12V ratchets w BRS038-S2 3/8 12v ratchet and the 1/4″drive BRS025-S2.We don't have any stats as of yet.

The 20V BWP050-L2 1/2″Impact looks beefy and if it is anything like its DeWALT counterpart it will be an excellent tool.DeWALT knows cordless is the one to beat in the Drill market.MAC tools has always been a good dependable professional brand. The automotive cordless tool industry has really been heating up the past few years with Milwaukee's M12 ratchet and newcomers like ACDelco.Tools like the Dewalt DCT414 thermometer and the DCT416S1 imager will be great automotive tools! The automotive environment is a different world from the job site.It will good to see how well these new tools hold up.In my personal opinion I think it was a brilliant idea to promote the DeWALT bloodlines. It instantly creates a warm cozy feeling knowing that it will last! But will it?We will find out!
