The Ford Fiesta ST has started to roll off the company’s production line in Cologne, Germany, ahead of its arrival in Australia later this year.
Ford’s fastest Fiesta yet is powered by a 1.6-litre turbo four-cylinder with 132kW and 240Nm, and accelerates from 0-100km/h in 6.9 seconds.
The Ford Fiesta ST will join the bigger Focus ST as the Blue Oval’s pair of affordable hot-hatches, with the smaller pocket rocket targeting the likes of the Volkswagen Polo GTI and Suzuki Swift Sport.
There are high expectations for the Fiesta ST given the benchmark driving ability of the regular city car and the brilliance of the Focus ST.
Pricing is likely to be vicinity of the three-door Polo GTI’s $27,790 sticker.
