UK-based packaging firm Sirane has introduced a new food packaging solution, the Sira-Cook Supreme bag, which can be used for cooking in both the oven and barbecue.
Sira-Cook Supreme bag can also be used to cook on the hot-plate or griddle and is claimed to be fully heat-sealed.
Available in a various sizes as well as in a standard and non-stick version, the bag comes with a transparent top panel, which allows users to see the contents while cooking.
The new 'barbecue ready meal' packaging solution is expected to have significant impact on the sale of barbecue food.
Sirane sales director Jeremy Haydn-Davies said the bag is the perfect summer solution for retailers - it can be filled, heat-sealed and shipped as a ready meal that can go straight on the barbecue.
"But the Sira-Cook Supreme bag is also ovenable - which might be a real bonus with the unreliable British climate," Haydn-Davies said.
"The same bags would also allow over-the-counter sales of ready-to-barbecue packs which if heat-sealed behind the counter are leak-proof."
