Infiniti QX60 Hybrid: Efficient Crossover to Debut in New York

The Infiniti QX60 Hybrid will make its world debut at the upcoming New York auto show later this month.

An efficiency conscious variant of the previously-named Infiniti JX35 SUV that launched in the US in early 2012, the seven-seat Infiniti QX60 Hybrid features Infiniti’s Direct Response Hybrid technology – seen in the Infiniti M35h Hybrid – enabling an anticipated combined cycle fuel consumption figure of 9.0 litres per 100km.

To be offered in front- and all-wheel-drive layouts, the Infiniti QX60 Hybrid’s one-motor/two-clutch system combines a supercharged 2.5-litre petrol engine, a 15kW electric motor and a lithium-ion battery with a CVT (Continuously Variable Transmission) for a total power output of 186kW.

Infiniti says due to the hybrid system’s battery being located under the third seating row, the QX60 Hybrid maintains its flat floor meaning easier access to the rear seats and no reduction of cargo room.

An Intelligent Regenerative Braking system also recharges the battery during vehicle braking. The Infiniti QX60 Hybrid will go on sale in the US in the second quarter of 2013 with an expected premium of about $3000 over non-hybrid QX60 models.

In Australia, the Infiniti FX is the brand’s only SUV model, delivering 9.0L/100km from its 175kW/550Nm 3.0-litre V6 turbo diesel, 12.1L/100km from its 235kW/360Nm 3.7-litre petrol V6 and 13.1L/100km the flagship 287kW/500Nm 5.0-litre petrol V8.
