There are price ranges for every budget and styles for every décor, providing an accessible entry point for consumers hesitant to make a dramatic departure from neutral.

"There is an accent chair for every setting," said Comer Wear of Century Furniture. "Chairs are a perfect way to include a fabric that you don't want to show in a big way. We style and put together our showroom settings so our dealers feel comfortable with mixing and matching, but we also push the envelope at market to show unusual pairings of fabrics and frames."
With the furniture industry's present and increasing emphasis on the fashion of upholstery, accent chairs can instantly update retail floors. Designer Angelo Surmelis is showing market attendees how they can create different looks with accent chairs at angelo:HOME in showroom 4100 at Showplace.
"For me, chairs give everyone an opportunity to experiment," Surmelis said. "They are a much smaller area of coverage, so you can do whatever you want with them. You can take chances and do what you love."
Surmelis' Roscoe chair retails for $300 and is attracting attention in the showroom.Draping various fabric applications over the chair, Surmelis showed how the simple lines of the piece could be transformed.
"The chair can go from masculine to feminine to very contemporary by changing the fabric," he said.
"You can play with it all day and coordinate it with accessories in the room. It's easy to take a big risk with a chair."
