The Introduction of Stainless Steel

One of the most important factor which you need to keep in mind before buying stainless steel sheet is about its grade. Stainless steel sheet available in market in many grades, and choosing right grade of metal for right application is a very important thing. Choosing right metal is not a difficult task if you know all the grades of stainless steel and your requirements perfectly.

The name "Stainless" perfectly defines its properties. In fact, stainless steel got its name because of the property of being corrosion free. There is no stain i.e. rest on the surface of the metal. This is the most highlighted property of the metal. Thus, it is due to this property stainless steel is used in almost all industries, where in being corrosion free metal is most important thing.

High corrosion resistance even after wear and tear

Unlike s, stainless s effectively fights corrosion and does not require any extra coating or covering on it. Hence, due to this stainless s retains its shinning surface on top. This gives an added advantage to Stainless s over Aluminium coated steel. Also, if there is any wear and tear on the upper surface of the metal then the lower layers, which get exposed, won't get affected and the metal would be corrosion free. However, the case is not same in the metals where in a protective covering is coated on the metal. Here, if the upper covering is scratched due to any reason, the lower metal would come in contact with the atmosphere and start to corrode. Due to this property, stainless s is preferred over other metals.

Various grades and uses of Stainless s

Due to the diverse use of the metal, many grades have come in the market. Out off grades 300 series is the most common and widely used type of stainless s. It has high corrosion resistance, high temperature resistance and it is highly ductile, which makes 300 stainless steel most popular in the market.

However, if you are in need a metal which has to undergo heavy duty work, then it would be better to go for a 316 and 304 grade of stainless s. The most common application of this type of metal is in chemical processing industry as well as in food industry. An important factor to keep in mind while selecting the metal is it flexibility and thickness. The thickness of the metal is generally given in decimals; hence, correct precession is required while placing the order.

These are few advantages of stainless s, which make the metal one of the most popular choice among the manufactures.
