Trap Light – Save Energy’s unique lighting style proposes to illuminate without the need for electricty. Designers Gionata Gatto &Mike Thompson’s fresh approach to lighting incorporates the age old technique of Murano glass blowing with an illuminating effect – they have embedded photoluminescent pigments into the Trap Light’s glass body.

By incorporating photoluminescent pigments into the Murano glass, the Trap Light can convert wasted energy back into visible light. What is photoluminesence? Gionata & Mike state that “Photoluminesence is a process in which energy absorbed by a substance is gradually released as light.” Or for the scientific version visit: Photoluminesence Wikipedia.
Through the photoluminescence process the Trap Light is able to be both the shade and light source. In only 30 minutes, the Trap Light can charge enough to emit, absorb, and re-emit up to 8 hours of ambient lighting.
