Ahlstrom Has Developed a PFOA-Free Version of Its Flexible Packaging Paper Range

Global fiber-based materials company, Ahlstrom has developed a perfluorooctanoic acid (PFOA)-free version of its flexible packaging paper range, Ahlstrom Coralpack.

The new paper is used for direct wrapping and packing of grease-containing food products such as biscuits, pastries, coffee beans, fast food, take-away food, pizzas, popcorn for micro wave, butter & margarine and soup cubes among others.

According to the company, the entire range of Ahlstrom Coralpack paper, which offers performance paper characteristics such as printability, laminating, extrusion and crimping, is available in a new generation version spanning from 32g to 200g per square meter.

The new packaging paper is produced at the company's Rottersac plant south-west of France.

Ahlstrom claims that food products packed or wrapped in the new papers will be free of grease stains, irrespective of the grease contents in them.

The new generation of grease resistant papers have been designed by Ahlstrom Group Product & Technology Development services.
