Ford Has Recalled About 230,000 Vehicles Worldwide

US based automaker Ford has recalled about 230,000 vehicles worldwide and around 6,500 units in North America in two separate recalls.

The recall affects 229,929 units of the Ford Freestar and Mercury Monterey models manufactured during 2004-2007, among which 196,626 units have been sold in the US, 33,262 in Canada and 41 in other countries.

According to the company, the fold-down third-row seats has a corrosion problem that prevents it form locking into place, which may lead to an injury in the event of a crash.

The company has also recalled 2013 Ford Focus, Escape and C-Max vehicles including 5,675 vehicles in the US and 859 units in Canada, over improperly installed rear door child lock.

Vehicles manufactured from 16-21 November 2012 at Ford's Michigan Assembly plant have been affected by the recall.

According to National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), the child lock may not engage when the operator uses normal turning force to activate the child lock.

No cases of crashes or injuries related to the recall have been reported, claims the automaker.
