German carmaker Volkswagen has reported sales of 749,900 units across the globe a 14.9% increase in January 2013 compared to the 652,400 units sold in January 2012.
In Asia-Pacific the group sold 326,200 units up by 39.7% that was driven by sales in China, which reached 298,300 units from 208,200 units a 43.3% up, while in India sales went down by 17.1% to 7,800 vehicles compared 9,400 units sold in the same month of the previous year.
The group delivered 62,600 vehicles in the North America in January, a 17% growth that included 42,700 vehicles sold in the US, a 16.2% rise from 36,700 units sold in the corresponding month of 2012.
A drop of 0.9% to 77,300 units was reported by the company in the South America region, where Brazil led the sales with 55,400 units sold, a 6.2% rise from 52,200 units sold in January 2012.
Vehicle sales by Audi rose 16.3% to 111,800 units, Porsche sold 12,100 vehicles in the month, while SKODA and SEAT sold 69,500 units and 25,900 units in the month respectively.
