Montezuma's Chocolates Recalled a Variety of Sweets as They Contain Sulphites

Montezuma’s Chocolates, a UK-based chocolate maker, has recalled a variety of sweets as they contain sulphites that are not declared on the label.

The products subject to the recall include 160g packs of Mango chutney sweets, Beevibe sweets, Supertwist boiled sweets with Best before date 1 May 2013.

Recalled products also include 160g packs of Sunshine boiled sweets, Doppio sweets, Tequila cube sweets and Supertwist boiled sweets with Best before dates 1 June 2013,1 September 2013, 13 September 2013 and 1 November 2013 respectively.

Customer notices, which provide information about the recall, will be displayed in stores.

The agency noted that some people with asthma are sensitive to sulphites, and relatively small amounts may trigger an asthma attack. Consumers allergic or sensitive to sulphites are advised not to consume the recalled products and to return them to the place of purchase.
