Reportedly, Altos Hornos de México (Ahmsa), the largest integrated steel plant in Mexico, plans to begin its Fénix project in late March with total investment around US$1.5 billion.
The new project is based on to extend of Ahmsa's integrated longs and flats mill in the municipality of Monclova, northern Mexico according to the company said. The new project will expects to lift Ahmsa's liquid steel annual production capacity by 40% to 4.75 million tons.
However, there is no any further information regarding the start-up timetable. In addition, the company has already invested approximately US$1.5 billion in the new project so far.
