Princes hopes to increase its appeal to adult consumers with the launch of a number of bean meals under the Branston brand in the UK.

Princes Eyes Adults with Branston Bean Launch

The company will launch bean meals that include full-size lincolnshire sausages, chorizo sausage and chilli.

"The company has drawn on popular recipes for the range [and] the unique flavours will be the strength of the products," a spokesperson for Princes said.

Princes, which produces Branston under licence, said it hopes to inject "renewed growth" in the bean category through the launches. A spokesperson for the company told just-food that "trial and purchase" will be "key to securing new customers".

Striking a more traditional note, Princes also revealed it will extend its Branston beans line with the introduction of a family pack.

The spokesperson revealed that Princes has already secured listings at Sainsbury's.

BRANSTON LAUNCHES NEW ADULT BEAN MEALS AND FAMILY PACK

Princes is bringing adult-friendly innovation to the baked beans category by launching a new line-up of bean meals under the Branston brand in three modern variants.

The new bean meals are available in three unique flavours including Branston baked beans with full-size Lincolnshire sausages and beans with chorizo sausage.  The third hot and spicy chilli variant further strengthens the range’s adult-appeal with added chilli flakes.

The new line-up is designed to inject renewed growth in the £38m bean meals category by bringing exciting flavours from a trusted brand to satisfy consumers looking for a quick, versatile meal solution that delivers on quality and taste.

The range, which comes in convenient ring-pull cans and counts as one of your five-a-day, hit shelves this autumn and aims to drive bean meal consumption amongst adults shopping the fixture.

New 1kg family packs of Branston baked beans will also be added to the brand’s core range. The convenient light-weight plastic containers can be kept in the fridge for five days once opened or put directly in the microwave after removing the lid and foil, and feature an on-pack measuring device to provide consumers with added control over portion sizes when feeding the whole family.

The new ranges mark the first major investment in the brand since Princes acquired the licence to produce Branston baked bean products in 2011 and will be supported by in-store promotions and PR during the key autumn/winter sales period.

Chris Wright, Princes food manufacturing marketing director, said: “Branston baked beans are known for their great taste and have a strong level of brand loyalty. The adult-focussed innovation of our new bean meals will encourage existing Branston consumers to move across from standard beans and give us the opportunity to tempt new shoppers to try Branston beans for the first time.

“Consumers are increasingly looking for more exciting variants of their everyday staples to satisfy their need for a quick meal solution, and they look to recognised brands for reassurance of quality. This is particularly important for bean meals, an area of the market that has traditionally lacked consumer choice, and we are confident that these new products will appeal to shoppers looking for an interesting twist on their favourite products.”

The new Branston bean meals are available in 390g cans and have an RRP of £1.29 for Branston Beans & Lincolnshire Sausages and £1.09 for Branston Beans & Chorizo and Branston Beans with Chilli. The 1kg family packs of Branston beans has an RRP of £1.89
