According to Japan's media, Volkswagen, Europe largest car maker, claimed on June 14 that its mainstream models Golf production up reached 30 million. It is 39 years since the first generation Golf was born in 1974.
The memoriable 30000000th Golf was born in Volkswagen' headquarters - Wolfsburg plant in 2012. The new Golf is environmental friendly model - Blue Motion.
Volkswagen said that it was the first time that European carmaker's cumulative production reached 30 million. It means that in the past 39 years, Golf's global sales per day was more than 2000.
Martin Winterkorn, CEO of Volkswagen, said the the history of Golf reflects cars evolution. Golf was the first to use FF drive model and TDI, ESC, DSG.
