BASF has increased the production capacity of Ultramid C for flexible food packaging films at its production site in Ludwigshafen, Germany.
The company has converted a part of its Ultramid B (polyamide 6) production facility to produce more quantity of Ultramid C (polyamide 6/6.6).
Commissioned in the beginning of the year, new setup has the capacity to produce around 20,000 metric tons annually.
BASF Polyamide strategic marketing vice president Rainer Gretter said the applications and demands are becoming increasingly diverse, especially in the area of flexible food packaging films.
"This expanded production setup for high performance polyamides enables us to respond to our customers," Gretter added.
BASF, which supplies polyamide and polyamide intermediates for the engineering plastics, film, fiber and monofilament industry, produces products such as Ultramid B, Ultramid C, Ultramid A (polyamide 6.6) and and Ultramid S Balance (polyamide 6.10).
