Germany-based aftermarket tuning firm Brabus has introduced a performance kit that claims to boost engine power and torque for the new Mercedes S 500 plug-in hybrid.
Brabus PowerXtra B50 Hybrid kit is said to raise power of the V6 engine by 38kW / 52hp and torque by 70 Newton meters. This translates into a rise in the system output of the hybrid sedan to 368kW /500hp and system torque to 890Nm.
The company offers engine tuning for Mercedes-Benz automobiles, including the S 500 plug-in hybrid that comes with a turbocharged 3.0-liter V6 gasoline engine and plug-in electric drive.
The combination of the upgrade lets the hybrid car zoom to 100km/h from rest in 4.9 seconds, though the top speed remains electronically restricted to 250km/h.
Brabus' refinement program for S 500 also offers an aerodynamic-enhancement program with a sporty design and tailor-made wheels with diameters of up to 22 inches.
Besides, the Brabus front fascia offers as a substitute to the bumper, while underfloor lighting claims to offer a safe driving experience after sundown.
