The Branded Packaging division of Chesapeake has installed Heidelberg’s B1 printing press to extend its range of print finishes available to the spirits, confectionery and personal care markets.
Installed at Chesapeake East Kilbride in Scotland, the Speedmaster XL 106 perfector, which is part of a company-wide investment program, has 17 print units as well as an in-line cold foiling option.
Chesapeake Branded Packaging vice-president Tim Whitfield said the investment is expected to gain a number of processes inline providing better quality control.
"We will be able to provide multiple colour applications, foiling and an even greater range of matt, gloss and pearlescent finishes, including metallics, spot and solid applications," Whitfield said.
The press is equipped with coating units both before and after printing and perfecting that will allow East Kilbride to provide a range of finishes & effects inside as well as outside the box, to its customers.
The Speedmaster XL 106 perfector has improved technical features such as Autoplate XL plate-changing and Logistics fully automated materials handling, which help to increase service and integrate into any facility.
