Sales Expanded in Latin America/Canada, Asia Pacific and The US

3M Sales up in Asia Pacific Region

3M's consumer and office products division has reported second quarter sales of US1.1 billion, an increase of 2.3 per cent year-on-year.

The maker of Scotch and Post-it brand products said like-for-like sales increased by 3.2 per cent.

Sales expanded in Latin America/Canada, Asia Pacific and the US. However, the company noted that the combination of challenging economic conditions and the strong US dollar dented total group sales in the quarter. 

Besides its popular household products, 3M makes items ranging from stethoscopes to pavement markings and computer components and accessories. 

Leaving aside the negative impact of currency fluctuations, sales rose in every division except for display and graphics, where sales of films for LCD televisions have slumped due to slow TV sales.

The company said it will stick with its forecast for the year, saying it would continue to trim expenses in the face of weakening economic conditions, particularly in Europe.
