Officeworks plans to build its new Wyong store on vacant land on the corner of Johnson Road and Tuggerah Straight, which will have to be rezoned from light industrial to ‘centre support’.
Wyong Council supported the rezoning proposal with the local mayor Doug Eaton describing the Officeworks' proposal as "terrific for the shire".
"I am delighted that a company as reputable as Officeworks can see potential in investing $3 million into opening a business in Wyong Shire," he said.
"However, I'm more delighted at the prospect of 50 local jobs being created by the construction of this well-known business.
Officeworks currently has stores at West Gosford and Warner's Bay near Newcastle.
