The Carbon Trust has teamed up with real estate agent Savills to provide businesses with advice and funds aimed at reducing carbon emissions and energy consumption in their rented offices.The consultancy service will be available to occupiers in a range of sectors who are keen to cut their energy bills.
The Carbon Trust's Implementation Services will carry out energy audits,advise on where savings can be made and suggests whether measures such as new lighting would be beneficial.The Carbon Trust will also provide access to energy efficient lighting suppliers through its accreditation scheme.
The organisation estimates that a typical retail business could reduce its lighting energy bill by up to 70 per cent through installing new fittings and effective controls.
The Carbon Trust can also offer funds to cover the upfront costs through its 550m pound funding initiative launched in conjunction with Siemens last year.

"Investing right now makes sense for the property sector.For example,new lighting can often provide a full return on investment in one to three years,and reduce on-going maintenance costs."
