Mettler-Toledo CI-Vision has unveiled a new CLS Series vision inspection technology, which has been designed specifically for the fresh food industry to inspect labelling.
The series, which includes three machine sizes - 200mm, 300mm and 400mm widths, is designed particularly to inspect labeling of packs of varying widths and heights for the correct best-before date, lot number and barcode, according to the company.
It features Mettler-Toledo CI-Vision's advanced CIVCore Software, which allows to analyze high resolution images at a speed of 250 packs per minute (ppm), thus enabling the inspection of every pack without compromising line productivity. The software offers manufacturers a large memory capacity for the storage of data and images of rejected packs.
Mettler-Toledo CI-Vision stated that the technologies in the CLS Series are suitable for flat-packed food products, ensuring they comply with retailer labeling guidelines and regulations.
The technology tracks each product's lot number as it passes through the processing line and also ensures due diligence through traceability throughout the supply chain.
In addition, cameras of the equipment automatically adjust position to help examine of products ranging from 10mm to 200mm in height. This increases flexibility for food producers, while optimizing camera focus and lighting for accurate label verification regardless of pack height.
Mettler-Toledo CI-Vision European market manager Richard Reisbig said, "The CLS Series technology has been designed with the fresh food industry in mind, with attention paid not only to ensuring the systems are robust and easy to clean, but also flexible, enabling manufacturers to respond quickly to changes in market demand".
The CLS 200 will be showcased at the IFFA 2013 tradeshow event to be held from 4-9 May 2013 in Frankfurt, Germany.
