California-Based Hip Chick Farms Secures $2m Funding

Advantage Capital Agribusiness Partners (ACAP) has invested $2m in Hip Chick Farms to support release of new products.

The company is looking to grow by supplying its products to large retailers like Target and Kroger.

Based in Sebastol, California, Hip Chick Farms produces a range of organic and fully cooked frozen poultry entrées.

The company claims that its products are cooked from antibiotic-free chickens fed on a non-GMO, plant-based diet.

It also says that all its products are made of whole muscle meat without using any fillers.

Five of its eight products have been labeled as organic and the company plans to increase the number of organic products.

Advantage Capital Agribusiness Partners principal Tyler Mayoras said: “Hip Chick Farms is setting a new standard for products in the frozen food aisle.

“The company uses whole pieces of chicken – no fillers or starches to extend the product. This is a company that is changing the marketplace and proving that frozen food can be both healthful and tasty.”

Hip Chick Farms co-founder Serafina Palandech said: “Every kid across America deserves access to delicious, healthful foods, and it is our mission to make it easier for busy parents to provide it.

“By not using artificial ingredients and maintaining freshness through our freezing process, we believe our food tastes as if you cooked it in your kitchen yourself.”

The company’s products include gluten-free chicken nuggets and chicken meatballs.

Its new investor is a partnership fund between Advantage Capital Partners and nine Farm Credit organizations. The ACAP fund is licensed by the US Department of Agriculture (USDA) as a Rural Business Investment Company (RBIC).
