Reser's Fine Foods, a US-based establishment, is recalling certain of its own brand Cheesy Macaroni Salad over contamination issues with Listeria monocytogenes, the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) has announced.
The product subject to recall is Reser's Fine Foods Cheesy Macaroni Salad of 454g and 1.25kg featuring UPC codes 0 71117 18241 5, 0 71117 61227 1 respectively, product code 2013 OC 20.
The affected products have been distributed in Walmart stores in Ontario, New Brunswick and Nova Scotia and Loblaw banner stores across the country.
To date, no illnesses have been reported associated with the consumption of these products.
Reser's Fine Foods is voluntarily recalling the affected products from the marketplace, while the CFIA is monitoring the effectiveness of the recall.
Food contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes may not look or smell spoiled; however, consumption of such foods may cause listeriosis, a foodborne illness.
