India's biggest online retailer, Flipkart, which is on a hiring spree, has now roped in another top gun from Google. A senior engineering director at Google, Peeyush Ranjan, is to join the e-commerce giant in May in a key role, according to media reports. Flipkart’s e-commerce division is led by Mukesh Bansal.
Before working with Google, Ranjan had been VP Engineering at Motorola and VP of Product at Gogomo Inc, and had also worked with Microsoft and Infospace.

Flipkart had hired engineering leader Punit Soni from Google last month, underlining a frenetic rush among the country’s fast-growing companies to tap into Silicon Valley for talent to bolster their technology fronts. Soni will join Flipkart this month. Mukesh along with Flipkart co-founder Sachin Bansal had met around three-dozen potential candidates in Silicon Valley.
With technology emerging as the biggest battlefront for Indian e-commerce and software firms, leading companies such as Infosys and Flipkart have been scouting for engineers groomed in top US companies to acquire the domain edge they need to dominate rivals.
