Clariant, along with its healthcare packaging unit, is exhibiting new controlled-atmosphere packaging solutions at the SupplySide West Show in Las Vegas, US.
The event is being held from 4 to 8 October. The new packaging solutions can be used to protect a range of nutritional and dietary supplements, nutraceuticals, pharmaceuticals and other sensitive ingredients from degradation due to moisture and oxygen.
Clariant is exhibiting new line of Aroma-Can canisters, which can be used to add pleasant scent to product packaging.
The Aroma-Can technolog is said to embed food-grade flavors such as vanilla, orange and lemon directly into a plastic canister that is inserted at high speed during the product packaging process.
When consumers open the packages, the pleasant scent provided by Aroma-Can technology will avoid unappealing odors from the package containing products such as fish-oil and herbal products.
The company is also exhibiting a range of other active packaging solutions at the event, including Sorb-it (silica gel) and Tri-Sorb (molecular sieve) desiccant packets.
Other products such as Tyvek and Continu-Strip hole punch packets will also be exhibited at the event.
In addition, the firm will showcase its range of oxygen protection packaging, including oxygen scavengers and Oxy-Guard barrier bottles for packaging probiotics, and tubes and desiccant stoppers.
They can also be used for packaging effervescent tablets, lozenges, and solid-dosage nutraceuticals.
Clariant has manufacturing facilities in the US and France. It also opened a new plant in Dongguan of China.
In 2017, the firm is also planning to open the fourth manufacturing facility in Cuddalore, India.
