Glens of Antrim Potatoes Is Trialing The Use of Recycled Plastic Produce Boxes Supplied

Northern Ireland-based potato supplier Glens of Antrim Potatoes is trialing the use of recycled plastic produce boxes supplied by Marmax Products in the UK.

Glens of Antrim Potatoes has ordered for 120 produce boxes, which have saved the equivalent of over a quarter of a million milk containers from going to landfill.

Michael McKillop from Glens of Antrim Potatoes said the company proposes to preserve the environment as it reduces the impact its business has on the world around.

"This year we've planted hundreds of wild plants and flowers at the boundaries of our potato fields to encourage bees to pollinate and we are also working with local schools to teach children about how to grow and nurture vegetables for themselves," McKillop added.

The produce boxes are believed to have saved 270,270 milk containers from landfill.

Marmax manufactures 100% recycled plastic products.
