Seattle-based Darigold will shut its last milk processing plant in Medford on February 28, leading to 29 jobs at risk.
Handling of waste water has become a problem at the ageing plant, reports Capital Press.
Seattle based Darigold noted "The need to significantly upgrade the facility to maintain compliance with food safety, employee safety and environmental regulations, and the plant's distance from its core markets, among other reasons, led to the decision to close the plant."
Darigold will be operating its 11 other processing sites in Oregon, Washington, Idaho and Montana.
No decision has been taken about which packaging plants will take on the additional work created by the closure of the plant.
