Spanish automobile manufacturer SEAT has introduced the new three-door Leon SC coupe at the ongoing 2013 Geneva Motor Show in Switzerland.
The new coupe is offered with TSI and TDI engines variants, ranging from1.2 to 2.0L, which deliver outputs ranging between 105PS and 184PS.
The engines can either be mated to manual five- or six-speed gearbox, or by the DSG dual-clutch automatic, as per the powertrain variant, while a freewheeling function is incorporated into some versions to boost fuel economy.
Based on German carmaker Volkswagen's MQB platform, the new Leon SC will be manufactured at Martorell manufacturing plant in Spain.
According to the company, the use of advanced materials in production would make the coupe as the lightest vehicle in its class.
Leon SC is claimed to be 110kg lighter than the second-generation Leon, and 20kg lighter compared to the five-door new model.
The new coupe is scheduled to be launched in July 2013 and will be offered in three variants including S, SE and FR, with the top-end models featuring standard 17-inch alloys and parking sensors.
