Bridgestone Group Plans to Re-organize Its Manufacturing Operations in China

Japanese automotive parts maker Bridgestone Group is set to re-organize its manufacturing operations in Huanan, China, to strengthen its system for the production of polyurethane foam products for automobile seats.

Polyurethane foam is a cushion material for use in automobile seats, which is created with Bridgestone's advanced resin processing technology. It reduces automobile vibrations and contributes to improved safety and comfort.

As part of this initiative, Buji Plant of Bridgestone Ever Light Hong Kong (ELHK) will suspend its production of polyurethane foam products in the Shenzhen, Guangdong Province, in the first half of 2014.

Furthermore, the group will shift the production of polyurethane foam products in Huanan, China, to its Bridgestone (Kaiping) Diversified Products (BSKD) manufacturing facility in Kaiping, Guangdong Province.

Earlier in October 2013, the Japanese tiremaker announced that it will establish a new plant in Celaya City Guanajuato, Mexico, with an investment of JPY1.4bn ($14.3m) for the production of polyurethane foam for automobile seats.
