German automaker Volkswagen is set to equip its three models with three premium summer tire models from autoparts maker Continental.
The tree car models include the Golf 7, the CC and the Beetle, while the three tire models include ContiEcoContact 5, ContiPremiumContact 5, and ContiSportContact 5.
Golf 7 will be fitted with 15- and 16-inch ContiEcoContact 5 and ContiPremiumContact 5 tires, the CC will be fitted with the 17-inch ContiSportContact 5 and ContiEcoContact 5 tires, and the Beetle will be fitted with the 20-inch ContiSportContact 5 tires.
Continental's Volkswagen group automotive engineering manager Jörg Göner said that Volkswagen chose their tires because they satisfy the company's expectations and performance specification with their premium products.
"In addition, we have the ContiEcoContact 5 in our range - a tire with very low rolling resistance and very good driving properties even on wet roads - for example for the Golf 7 Blue Motion," Göner added.
"By the same token, with the ContiSportContact 5, we can offer a handling-based tire that brings the agile properties of the Beetle safely onto the asphalt."
The tire maker produces tires for Volkswagen at its tire plants in Hessian, Korbach. The ContiSportContact 5 for the Beetle will be produced at its American tire plant in Mount Vernon.
