Wipak, which is part of the Finnish conglomerate Wihuri, said in a statement that the acquisition would allow it to develop and strengthen its platform to meet growing demand for premade stand-up pouches.
The business, based in Caorso in northern Italy, will continue to be run by its current head Marco Reggi.
Matti Rovamaa, vice president and general manager of the Wipak Group, said: “Bordi will add to the Wipak Group extensive experience, advanced proprietary technology and a very successful track record as provider of customized pouches.
“Premade pouches in its many guises will complement our offering when it comes to sustainability, convenience and especially the ability to differentiate.”
