Breville Group Signs Agreement with Cardia Bioplastics to Purchase Cardia's Juicer Bags

Australian designer and manufacturer of kitchen appliances Breville Group has signed an agreement with Cardia Bioplastics to purchase and market Cardia's compostable juicer bags in the US.

According to Cardia, Breville's launch has implemented the 100% compostable 'the Clean & Green" juicer pulp bag, with its Juice Fountain range of extractors to support environmentally-friendly waste disposal practices.

Breville US category manager for food prep Michelle Smith-Aiken said consumers always look for faster clean-up when they use a juicer and most of them use their produce bags in their pulp bins to help with the clean up.

"The Clean & Green? juicer bags are the solution for a faster clean up while providing a fully compostable - biodegradable option to dispose of the pulp," Smith-Aiken said.

The agreement confirms Cardia's perception of a global shift with brand owners and packaging companies planning to change from conventional oil-based plastic packaging products to bioplastics that possess a lower carbon foot print.

Cardia develops, manufactures and markets sustainable resins derived from renewable resources.
