"Clay dog" is a kind of folk clay sculpture at the Taihao temple fair of Huaiyang County in Henan Province, which came into being with the religious sacrifice and the age-old folk custom. It has been passed down for generations to this day with a history of more than 3000 years.
The clay dogs are of several hundred different shapes and patterns, covering a variety of tribe totems in ancient China and the- daily life of the ancients. Though bearing different expressions, they all have a pattern of female genitals which have been designed through artistic exaggeration. As pointed out by experts, the "clay dogs" reveal the eulogy of people in ancient China on Nvwa's efforts to make human beings and their female reproduction worship.
