Panasonic’s net profit of 61 billion yen (about 662 million dollars) in the third quarter of December 31, while at the same time last year the net loss of 198 billion yen. Analysts had expected the net loss of 17 billion yen on average.
Panasonic's operating profit of 34.6 billion yen in third-quarter, compared to the same period last year operating loss of 8.1 billion. The third-quarter revenues of 1.8 trillion yen, declined 8% year on year.
Panasonic announced in October last year, expected that this fiscal year would be included the restructuring costs of440 billion yen, including solar, lithium batteries and mobile phone business. This figure exceeds the initial estimate of 41 billion yen. Due to the inclusion of television and semiconductor business restructuring charges, the company's net loss was 772 billion yen in the fiscal year in March 2012.
