Taiwan had 464,000 jobless citizens in July 2014, equivalent to an unemployment rate of 4.02% which rose by 0.10 ppt on month but dropped by 0.23ppt on year, according to the Directorate-General of Budget, Accounting and Statistics (DGBAS).
Taiwan's population aged 15 and over stood at 19.709 million in July, consisting of 11.555 million for labor force at labor participation rate of 58.63%, DGBAS indicated.
In July, Taiwan had a lower unemployment rate than France (10.2%), Canada (7.0%), the UK (6.5%), the US (6.2%), Germany (5.1%) but higher than Japan (3.7%), South Korea (3.6%), Hong Kong (3.3%) and Singapore (2.0%), DGBAS said.
