Due to down market prices and stagnant real estate market, the majority of the associate companies have reported losses and face challenges in the first half of the year in 2013. According to data, the steel production of Vietnam Steel Corporation slumped by 30% year on year to 191,800 tons in the first half of this year. It is estimated that it down market situation would persist for quite some time. Vietnam Steel Association's output estimated that its turnover during this period was VND 26 trillion. Of this amount, the corporation's turnover alone was VND 5.9 trillion, while its associate companies earned VND 10.4 trillion
