The 12th edition of Pharmapack Europe, Feb. 13-14, 2013, Grande Halle de la Villette (Paris), will welcome more than 3,000 visitors from all over the globe and around 280 international companies to the exhibition, which is dedicated to pharmaceutical packaging and drug delivery systems.

Pharma Packaging Event Puts The Patient First

One of a kind in the healthcare industry, Pharmapack Europe continues to differentiate itself through its high-quality audience and its positioning on technological innovations in packaging and delivery systems for drugs and healthcare products.

"For all participants, the event's specific positioning is a major attraction," says Aurore Domange, manager of Pharmapack Europe. "This trade show is a leading platform for business, networking and technological intelligence for companies and institutions in the healthcare industry. It is also a place where various sectors converge around expertise and excellence in packaging innovation, as demonstrated by the increasing numbers of visitors from the cosmetics, food processing and nutrition sectors."

Many new features to discover

For all these professionals, the 2013 edition, which promises to break new attendance records, will offer many new features in terms of conference topics, new activities and the exhibition itself.

This year, in a brand new approach, Pharmapack Europe will place the patient at the heart of the innovation process. This topic has been chosen as the guiding principle so as to encourage participants to reflect on the driving role played by the patient in the development of drug delivery systems and pharmaceutical packaging. In practical terms, the aim of this is to uncover new areas for research and to promote convergence between the different sectors of the healthcare industry to create innovative solutions improving patient compliance with treatments and safety for patients and healthcare staff. All the while, changes in regulatory requirements, the need to optimize manufacturing processes, cost reduction and sustainable development must be taken into account.

At the conference, a panel of international experts—greater in number than last year—will tackle these different aspects to be reconciled with and integrated into the development of new solutions. Over the course of more than 40 semi-scientific presentations and a number of debates, they will offer a complete round-up of the current situation and new trends with regard to:

Patient Safety and Compliance Packaging

Innovation in Parenteral Administration and Packaging Process

Innovation for Pulmonary and Nasal Forms of Drug Delivery

Targeted Drug Delivery via Convergent Technologies

Sustainable Packaging and Materials

For the first time at Pharmapack Europe, a series of four Technical Workshops will take place alongside the conference program. These meetings will enable participants to discuss in detail and receive expert guidance on current issues relating to:

Drugs and Isothermal Packaging: is it better to travel alone or in bad company? (Workshop A)

Serialisation: Track & Trace (Workshop B)

Medical Packaging Sterilisation & Validation (Workshop C)

Innovative Combination Products: Challenges and Approvals, EU-US (Workshop D)

More expertise brought together and more space for networking

With 70 new companies, Pharmapack Europe 2013 will bring together a total of 280 suppliers of packaging solutions for healthcare products. At this point of international convergence, 60 percent of these companies are coming from 27 countries including India, Finland and Tunisia that are being represented for the first time. Within this welcoming setting, visitors will be able to explore an even richer haven of globally available expertise.

To encourage communication between participants, Pharmapack Europe will provide more space for networking and will enable partners to discuss current and future projects in complete confidentiality.

Pharmapack Awards 2013: Innovations to benefit the patient

The Pharmapack Awards 2013 ceremony, one of the highlights of the event, will give recognition to drugs, medical devices, healthcare products and veterinary drugs launched on the market between November 2011 and December 2012. In connection with the main theme of the 2013 edition and to pay greater attention to the benefits brought to the patient and user by the innovations submitted to the competition, the Pharmapack Awards jury now includes representatives of patient associations, doctors and wholesale distributors.
