Toronto Struggled to Forge Its Own Identity

Toronto's Restaurant Patio Scene Kicks off in Style

Love it (what's not to love) or hate it (seriously?), this city has style.

It wasn't always that way; for years Toronto struggled to forge its own identity, its own character, its own recognition among the premiere cities in the world, and even among the more unenviable cities in Canada.

Guess what?

We've arrived people.

Carousing through Yonge and Eglinton in Toronto last weekend, dodging a sporadic rainfall that threatened to ruin our evening, a group of my friends and I happily wandered into the familiar yet pleasingly refreshing and delightfully renovated environs of one of Toronto's most popular nightspots and renowned nightspots, the Copacabana.

I don't mind telling you that the first thing I blurted out to my friends was "WE ARE HAVING A DRINK ON THIS PATIO!"

Fortunately, my logic appeared irrefutable, and when you see these photographs, that were secured through sedate and largely law abiding means, you'll know what it is to invest in outdoor patio furniture in Toronto that SAYS something about your patio, about your establishment, your business, your livelihood, your presence in the community.

I gotta say; for no particular reason, I hadn't been down to this area of town for some time, and when I happened to make it back there, it was sweet.

No one was out there on the patio; it was too wet and drizzly and unpleasant; but EVERYONE was DYING? to get out there and enjoy the cool slatted wood, geometric crisp modular cushions and incredibly inviting and stylish designs that signaled a new age in the enduring Toronto landmark that is the Copacabana.

Chic; elegant; comforting and comfortable, the Copa patio is where Toronto restaurant patio furniture is happening; no nonsense, geometric form, with minimalist, contemporary, fashionable and durable accents.

Daddy likes!

You can travel all over the world for mind blowing vistas, but you only need to walk a mile in anywhere in Toronto to see every kind of modern, cool and innovative patio decor, be it residential, retail, restaurant chic or just flat out party stomping bare..

Toronto's patio scene is diverse, swinging, rocking and kicking, but most of the time you'd never know it from the bland, non-descript patio furniture that detracts rather than augments a patio space..

That's why when I came across this new vista (to me anyway), I had to memorialize it; sometimes you just won't see something the same way as when it first punches you in the gut and says, 'YOU WERE GONNA JUST WALK RIGHT BY THIS AND NOT EVEN NOTICE, WEREN'T YOU?'

But I did notice, and that's why I love this city; even when you think you've seen the same damn thing forever, you haven't; because this city is forever changing; adapting; evolving into something truly unique and amazing.

Stylish, sophisticated; I wanted to sprawl on it.

And I did, and got a proper soaking too; but it was worth it.

Now that the summer weather is here, I'll be sprawling there again asap.
