David King Electronics, which brings in Muller GPS equipment, is one of several companies showing their latest precision farming kit at this year's Precision Farming Event at the East of England Showground on Wednesday 7 March. The TRACK-Guide II system starts with basic guidance but is upgradable to run automatic steering functions. This can involve using an electric friction wheel on the steering column or a hydraulic valve in the steering system. Track-Guide II can also be upgraded to a full-scale Isobus terminal, enabling it to communication with other makes of farm management information system. Other options include the ability to switch machine sections on and off using GPS. This allows the headland to be treated after the inside of the field and variable rate application used. For large-scale farmers and contractors, Muller's Field-Nav software option enables navigation and field information to be shown on the terminal. Track-Guide II can use different correction signals, like EGNOS and RTK systems. Accessories are also available including a camera that can be monitored on the in-cab terminal, a tilt compensation module for correcting GPS position on hillsides, a separate lightbar and a GSM module that allows data to be exchange via the mobile phone network using the Farmpilot internet portal.
