Turnover generated by Surteco declined in the first half of 2013 in both strategic business units (SBUs). Turnover in the SBU Paper showed a minus of 7.6% and that in the SBU Plastics was down by 4.1%. Total Surteco turnover, at €199.2m, was down year on year by 5.8%.
In contrast, the pre-tax result at SBU Paper showed year-on-year improvement of 25%, while in the SBU Plastics the pre-tax result was marginally down year on year. Across the whole company, most results figures showed slight im-provement, which Surteco attributed to continued cost management and to the slight easing of the situation on the procurement front. EBITDA was minimally higher year on year, while the EBITDA margin increased on account of the decline in turnover to 13.3%. The EBIT was up by 3.2% and the pre-tax results by a similar margin. This resulted in an improvement in group profit of 2.6% to €8.0m.
